Josh and I went to a Star Wars themed birthday party for one of our nephews yesterday, and I dressed up as Princess Leia while he was Darth Maul. (I know - what a fitting couple, right?) I painted a black and red design on his face, and even though it was my first time using face paint, it didn't turn out half bad. At the beginning, he looked a little like Catwoman...

...but eventually he turned out to look much more menacing (or at least as menacing as it's possible for a naturally cheerful person to look)...

I didn't paint around his eyes, because I was afraid the face paint would get in his eyes. In retrospect, I should have brought along some black eyeshadow for his eyelids. And I didn't paint the back of his head, because I didn't have enough face paint. But I think what I did paint looked really cool! And I think Josh is a bit embarrassed about this fact, but he ended up wearing the same lipstick that I was wearing, because it was the only non-toxic thing I could find to put on his lips that would make them blend in with his face...

Josh and our nephew as "the bad guys"...

One of our nieces who really wanted to try on the Darth Vader mask (why is it that kids look so cute dressed up as villains?!)...

The Yoda cake, made by Josh's mom...

We had a good time! I forgot how fun it is to dress up in costumes, so I think this Halloween Josh and I will have a party where everyone has to come in costume.
