Everyone who knows me knows that I have baby-phobia. It's not that I don't like my little nieces and nephews, but if I hold them I make sure that it's only for a minute or two, long enough so that I can enjoy stroking their soft skin and letting them grab my finger, but not long enough that I have to deal with them when they start crying or stinking.
Most of my phobia is related to having my own children. The thought of being pregnant or having a little human to raise makes my chest feel all constricted. But unfortunately, I love children's rooms.
I'm always pointing out things to Josh when we're out-and-about, or when I'm browsing online, and saying things like, "This would look so great in a kid's bedroom." Then he always chuckles and shakes his head and says, "But you don't want kids."
I had a dream about a week ago that I was feeling my stomach, and I suddenly realized that I was about three months pregnant, and had a huge belly. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I've never had a worse dream in my life. I woke up scared to death, wondering why I felt like my life was over.
But I think the one redeeming factor of having a baby would be that I would get to create the cutest kid's bedroom ever. Like the one above. It's so charming that it almost makes me want kids, just so I can re-create it.

I can't get over that last room. The ferris wheel is adorable!! And having a kid's not so bad. The crying and stinking isn't quite as annoying when it's your own. HA!
ReplyDeleteLovely rooms with character, and when you have your first child, you'll see...:-).
ReplyDeletei agree. the room with the ferris wheel is rad.
ReplyDeletei used to have baby phobia, but it's getting better. i've been hanging out in the infant room and i'm learning that babies are actually kind of theraputic. i like to go in and hold them now, but i also like to leave when they start crying :).
