This house costs a million dollars...

It's not even that big, it has no yard, and you have to park on the street. I'm not impressed.

But that's not the point of my post. The point is that today is the first day of fall! It's been feeling like fall for the past few weeks in Portland, though - chilly mornings and crisp evenings, brilliant leaves covering the pavement, and that certain cozy, homey feeling that autumn always brings.

The other point of my post is that I took a walk around our neighborhood the other day to take pictures of pretty houses and pretty leaves. Even though we're not wealthy, we live in a really nice neighborhood, where all the houses are worth half a million to a million dollars. I like to walk around sometimes and dream about living in them.

I'm especially a sucker for anything made of brick. And in this neighborhood, there's a lot of it...

I love the grand details of homes in this neighborhood, like sweeping driveways, tall firs, lion statues flanking the front doors, and turrets....

And the small details: chimneys with fun designs, interesting windows, and spunky doors....

There are even some houses in the neighborhood over a hundred years old...

And since I love nature, I had to capture pictures of the lovely gardens in the area...
